Adem Ljajic will undergo a Roma medical tomorrow, replacing Tottenham-bound Erik Lamela, while Ante Rebic joins Fiorentina.

The transfer merry-go-round is expected to go full circle within the next 48 hours.

Today Ljajic left the Fiorentina camp without joining in the training session, as he only went into the locker room to say goodbye to his teammates.

The striker turned down a contract extension, so the Viola made it clear he would be sold to avoid running down to its expiry in June 2014.

He had been very close to Milan, but Fiorentina were furious with them for trying to go through the player first, so today successfully convinced Ljajic to accept Roma instead.

The offer for the player who turns 22 next month is €10m plus a further €3m in performance-related bonuses.

Ljajic is set to arrive in Rome for a medical between this evening and tomorrow.

With his arrival, Roma will release Lamela for his medical in London and the €35m (£30m) transfer to Tottenham.

The Evening Standard newspaper claimed this afternoon that Lamela was already in London, but this was shown to be incorrect when he took part in the Roma training session that started at 17.00 UK time.

If Ljajic is Lamela’s replacement, then Fiorentina already have their substitute too, as 19-year-old Croatia international Rebic is in Florence to complete his transfer from RNK Split.

The fee has been agreed at €4.5m with a four-year contract worth €600,000 per season.

“The negotiations have now been concluded,” confirmed FIFA agent Mauro Cesarini on Radio Blu.
