Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool have made an approach for Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa, in case the Barcelona deal does not go through.

The winger has been frozen out of the Juve squad and told to find himself a new club to avoid running down the contract which expires at the end of this season.

They are even prepared to accept less than €15m, which would make him a net loss for the Bianconeri after his €60m arrival from Fiorentina.

Chiesa has Barcelona and Liverpool options

It all seems set for the move to Barcelona, with the Italy international emptying his locker at the Vinovo training ground today.

However, suddenly transfer experts Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano claim that Liverpool have made an initial approach, realising that Barcelona have not yet put forward a formal proposal.

The 26-year-old just wants regular first team football, preferably in the Champions League, which is why he was not enthusiastic when Roma asked after his availability.
