Liverani braced for Viola backlash

Lecce coach Fabio Liverani says is braced for a Fiorentina backlash tomorrow after consecutive defeats for the Viola.

Fiorentina lost to Verona and Cagliari in their last two Serie A games, so Liverani is expecting to face a team who are “angry”, looking to atone for their poor form.

“Tomorrow we will meet an angry team, who have suffered consecutive defeats, and they will want to improve in front of their own fans,” he said at a press conference.

“Tomorrow we will meet an angry team, who have suffered consecutive defeats, and they will want to improve in front of their own fans,” he said at a press conference.

The Salentini’s task has been made more difficult by the potential absence of several key players.

“For the game tomorrow we could be without [Marco] Mancosu, [Luka] Dumancic, [Biagio] Meccariello and [Zan] Majer. They have to be monitored day by day.”

Lecce lie just outside the relegation places, and the ex-Fiorentina man was asked about his side’s chances on Saturday.

“For us, there are no easy games in this League. But the beauty of football is that on the pitch, you can narrow the differences.

“We can’t afford to give Fiorentina too much space as they have attacking players who thrive in it.”
