Lille Coach Christophe Galtier "turned down" the chance to take the Roma job, claims his club President Gerard Lopez.
Paulo Fonseca was eventually coaxed over from Shakhtar Donetsk, but according to these reports in France, the Portuguese tactician was not necessarily among the first choices.
It’s already known Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri were contacted, but it seems Galtier was also on the short-list.

“We feel proud not that Galtier turned down Roma, but proud about what that says about Christophe’s feeling for this club,” LOSC President Lopez told RMC Sport.
“It’s reason to be proud for me. This isn’t about it being a competition with Roma, but the fact that today we have such a good working rapport with Christophe and (director of sport Luis) Campos.”
Of course, Campos had also been approached by Roma and Milan to be their director of sport this summer.
