Leicester City push for Inter exile Sensi after Casadei return to Chelsea

Leicester City are speeding up in their pursuit of Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi after Chelsea recalled Cesare Casadei from his loan spell.

The 21-year-old Casadei, who left the Nerazzurri for the Blues for €15m back in August 2022, shined during his six months on loan with Leicester, scoring three goals and providing two assists across 25 appearances.

Chelsea have been impressed by the Italian midfielder’s development and have now ended his loan spell early, bringing him back to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. He’ll be hoping to start breaking into the Blues first team in the second half of this Premier League season.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Leicester are now pushing to sign Sensi on a definitive transfer from Inter, wanting to add the midfielder to Enzo Maresca’s squad to cover Casadei’s return to Chelsea. Talks between the two parties are developing and an agreement could arrive in the coming days.

Sensi’s time at the Nerazzurri will ultimately prove to have been disappointing. He initially shined, scoring three goals and providing four assists across his first six games in 2019, but numerous injuries have derailed his career at the club, limiting him to just 56 games total.

Maresca took over as Leicester coach in the summer, following their relegation from the Premier League, and he’s instantly shined in the dugout, putting them on track to immediately bounce back to the topflight.
