Lecce terminate Normann loan before it begins

Serie A side Lecce have surprisingly announced that the transfer for Norway international Mathias Normann has been abandoned due to red tape issues.

The 26-year-old midfielder had already been training with the newly-promoted side, having made the switch on loan from Russian club Rostov.

However, problems arose with registering the player and it seems the issues were so bad that they have forced a complete termination of the agreement.

Lecce released a statement confirming that “due to the on-going delays in registering the player Mathias Normann, we decided by mutual consent with the athlete to definitively stop the process of his signing.”

Normann spent last season on loan in the Premier League with Norwich City, while before that he had played for Brighton and Hove Albion.

It is a remarkable turn of events considering Normann only arrived in Italy yesterday morning and was greeted at the airport in nearby Brindisi, where he held up a Lecce scarf.
