Lecce seal record Hjulmand transfer to Sporting

Lecce have sealed a new club record sale by sending Morten Hjulmand to Sporting CP for €21m including bonuses.

The Salentini had already confirmed a transfer was imminent after shaking hands on the transfer, noting they had accepted less than his true value because of a pledge made to the midfielder.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 24-year-old has now agreed personal terms too and the figures have leaked out.

It is believed the sale has been made for €18m plus another €3m in add-ons.

That would represent a club record sale for Lecce, as until now their biggest exit was striker Mirko Vucinic to Roma for €15.75m in the summer of 2007.

It is also a huge profit for the Serie A side, who purchased Hjulmand for only €170,000 in January 2021 from Admira Wacker.

He has made 95 competitive appearances for the Salentini, in which he provided nine assists, helping them to earn promotion from Serie B.
