It kicks off tonight at 19:45 UK time. The former England Coach managed to claim the Scudetto with the Biancocelesti at the turn of the millennium, a victory he remembers fondly.

“Lazio, back in 2000, were the strongest team I ever coached,” Eriksson told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “They had charisma and skill.

“[Roberto] Mancini was explosive. I had to block my ears whenever I subbed him off. Once he told [Simone] Inzaghi he was an imbecile because of a bad chipped ball on a penalty.”

The Swede then discussed two of the season's most unexpected success stories, Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and Leicester City in the Premier League.

“I support [Diego] Simeone's Atletico Madrid and I'm fascinated by his football style. I'm proud that he says he learnt something from me. He was tough as a player and he's tough as a Coach.

“Claudio Ranieri? You often criticize Italian football, but triumphs like Leicester's are partly engendered in Italy, thanks to the extreme tactical rigour in Serie A.”
