Lazio to double Luis Alberto salary

Luis Alberto is expected to sign a new contract holding him to Lazio until June 2025, practically doubling his current salary.

The 27-year-old Spanish midfielder has been at the club since he left Liverpool for €4m in the summer of 2016.

He is one of the key figures in the impressive Lazio campaign, which has seen them challenge Juventus for the Scudetto and win the Italian Super Cup.

Luis Alberto contributed five goals and 14 assists in 30 competitive games this season.

His contract is due to expire in June 2022, but La Gazzetta dello Sport claim a deal has been made to extend it until 2025.

The negotiations earned him double his current salary, moving from €1.8m per season to €3.5m plus bonuses.

There are also advanced talks for new contracts with Marco Parolo and Senad Lulic, with Thomas Strakosha in the works too.
