Lautaro: Inter had to beat Barca

Lautaro Martinez admitted Inter “had to win” against Barcelona last night and suggested they left too much space to “best player in the world” Lionel Messi.

Martinez gave Inter the lead just two minutes into their Champions League clash at Camp Nou, but Barca were boosted by Messi’s return from injury and ended up emerging with a 2-1 victory.

“My goal must be put to one side,” the forward told ESPN.

“We had to win and we were doing very well, but the game ended with great bitterness.

“We had to take more of the chances we made. Messi is the best player in the world and Barca are hard to beat when he’s is on the pitch.
