The two men physically clashed in the changing rooms after exchanging insults following the Serie A defeat at Udinese.

“The disagreement with Pablo is part of the past now,” he told La Roma in an interview. “He apologised for the incident.

“However, one thing is for certain, I never said: ‘You are not Maradona’ to him as was written in the newspapers.

“To be honest, I don’t understand where such rumours come from…”

Lamela, just 19, joined the Giallorossi in the summer following the relegation of legendary Argentine club River Plate.

“I may still be young, but this could be a point of arrival in my career,” added the South American who has been used in a wide attacking role.

“I feel like a Trequartista and I like to help out my teammates during games. My motto is ‘all for one and one for all’ – that’s the only way a side can become great.”
