In the second part of his interview with AS, Napoli Khvicha Kvaratskhelia reveals he realised the Partenopei had won the title after a 1-0 win over Juventus in April: ‘The highway was blocked by fans.’
The Georgian ace spoke about tonight’s Champions League game against Real Madrid but also discussed Napoli’s Serie A title in 2022-23.
Kvara contributed to Napoli’s first Scudetto in 33 years with 12 goals and 13 assists in Serie A.
“I managed that because I found an incredible staff and team, I would not have achieved it without them. Everything worked perfectly,” he said.
“People celebrated for months, but I understood what we had achieved after beating Juventus in April. When we returned to town, the highway was blocked, and full of fans, and I couldn’t believe it.
“The international development is evident, we feel the importance of playing for the Azzurri,” he continued.
“We reached the Champions League quarter-finals last season and we have the strength to keep aiming to go far in Europe. We could have done more even last year.”
