Koulibaly reveals why he didn’t join PSG

Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly confirms he held talks with PSG, but the Partenopei didn’t sell him showing ‘all their love.’

The Senegal international is currently on international duty with his national team. He’s been heavily linked with many top clubs in the past but has never left Naples where he arrived in a €7.7m deal from Genk in 2014.

PSG are one of the clubs that tried to sign the 30-year-old in the past as the defender confirmed.

“I spoke to them and other clubs,” he told Canal+.

“There was an interest, but I don’t like to talk about these things. Napoli didn’t sell me showing all their love for me.

“I want to continue to do well and be among the best defenders in the world. I am happy that PSG thought about me, it means that I am doing well and this is encouraging.”

Koulibaly has played 298 games with the Partenopei and his contract at the Stadio Maradona runs out in June 2023.

The Napoli centre-back missed Senegal’s 1-0 over Zimbabwe yesterday as he had tested positive for COVID two days earlier.

A late goal from Liverpool star Sadio Mané gave Senegal all three points in their debut at the Africa Cup of Nations.
