Roma winger Justin Kluivert has revealed he wanted to become a tennis player before deciding to follow in his father’s footsteps.
The Giallorossi brought Kluivert to the Italian capital for €17.5m from Ajax in July 2018 and he has gone on to play 62 matches for the club, contributing nine goals and 10 assists in the process.
But the son of former Barcelona and Milan star, Patrick, has revealed it was a different sport that was on his mind ‘all day’ when he grew up.

But the son of former Barcelona and Milan star, Patrick, has revealed it was a different sport that was on his mind ‘all day’ when he grew up.
“I wanted to play tennis at first, I was thinking about tennis all day and not about football,” Kluivert said on his new YouTube channel. “But my dad and my brother played football and you automatically become passionate about it.
“I remember when I entered the pitch, on the street, I scraped my knees and cried. The street is the fundament, you can grow and train your technique.
“I started at AFC de Dijk and then went to the AFC, until Ajax finally noticed me. It was an incredible dream because my father played there.”
