Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals Juventus loanee Arthur has suffered a muscle injury.
Arthur joined the Reds on loan with an option to buy on the deadline day but hasn’t yet played consistently with the Reds.
He should have been involved in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Rangers, but Klopp has now revealed that the Brazil international had suffered a muscle injury prior to the match.
“There’s one new injury, Arthur Melo in the last session before the Rangers game. In a normal situation, he just injured a muscle. We have to wait for further assessment to know exactly how long it will be,” the German tactician said at a press conference as quoted by The Athletic.
Arthur had cancelled his holidays during the international break to train with Liverpool’s U21 squad and get in shape for the first time.
He had been severely affected by injuries during his time at Juventus, missing 23 games across two seasons.
Liverpool paid €4.5m for the midfielder’s loan until June 2023 and have an option to make his move permanent for a further €37.5m at the end of the season.
