However, the move is being delayed by negations over image rights, a familiar problem in transfers involving Napoli.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists players hand over their image rights to the club when they sign.
That means they must terminate all existing deals with sponsors, which takes time and can even cause deals to collapse.
Other clubs usually take just 50 per cent of a player’s image rights, allowing them to use the image in club promotional material as long as it doesn’t clash with other sponsorship deals.
For example, a club sponsored by Adidas could use a Nike athlete to advertise their new kit as long as other players are present and it’s only to promote the club.
