Milan and Inter will meet in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals tomorrow, but the Milanese sides are also battling off the pitch for several potential signings, including Franck Kessié and Gianluca Scamacca.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kessié wants to stay in Serie A and is unwilling to sign a contract extension with the Rossoneri. Inter won’t be able to offer a huge salary to the Ivory Coast international, but they may afford a higher offer if one of their top midfielders leaves in the summer. Juventus have also been linked with the 25-year-old who has rejected a €6.5m-a-year offer from Milan, asking for €8-9m.
Hakan Calhanoglu swapped Milan with Inter at the end of his contract one year ago and the Serie A defending champions now dream of signing another Milan star for free in the summer.
Gianluca Scamacca is also a target of both clubs. Inter are leading the race for the Italy international, but Milan will also be looking for a new centre forward in the summer and Milan director Ricky Massara has been an admirer of the 23-year-old since his time at Roma’s youth sector. Empoli defender Mattia Viti and Pisa star Lorenzo Lucca have also been monitored by the Milanese sides who are preparing to battle on and off the pitch.
