Pierre Kalulu felt Milan’s new system had ‘helped more’ in recent games and underlined the importance of their Champions League clash with Tottenham.
The Rossoneri have been in a run of poor form following the Christmas break, picking up just two wins in seven Serie A outings in 2023. The team showed some positive signs in their 1-0 win over Torino on Friday last week, something they hope will help them generate some momentum ahead of their European encounter with Spurs.
Speaking in a press conference, Kalulu first discussed what’s changed with Milan’s new system.
“This is the most important match of my life. With the results we’ve had, this system has helped more, but it’s the attitude that makes the difference, when everyone is like this it’s also easier for us players.”
He was asked if he was starting to regain his form.
“In this last game I was better, I felt very good against Torino, then I always try to improve, every day. I can be even better.”
The Rossoneri defender commented on his brother Aldo’s goal for FC Sochaux against Le Havre.
“I always watch his games, for sure it was a very good weekend for us, they are going to Europe next year. He always gives me advice which I always listen to.”
He looked ahead to facing Spurs duo Son Heung-Min and Ivan Perisic.
“Big names but we have faced other teams with big names. I always hope to play these types of games.”
The 22-year-old touched on Raphael Varane’s retirement from the France national team and if that gives him a chance with Les Bleus.
“True, there is one more opportunity to reach this goal. But it is necessary to get there through great matches with Milan.”
Finally, Kalulu weighed in on Milan’s recent run of poor form.
“For me personally it’s the first time I’ve had a moment when you win, it’s the most difficult because when you lose morale is lower. But it serves to make you stronger.”
