The Bianconeri are looking for a central midfielder before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, having seemingly been rebuffed for Blaise Matuidi of Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite reports in France that the Matuidi move could be revived, Sky is reporting that the Italian champions have made contact with Zenit about Witsel.

The Belgian international is believed to be keen to make the move, with the Old Lady opening with a €15m offer.
However, it’s unlikely that will be enough to convince the Russian side, who want €22m even though Witsel’s contract expires at the end of the season.
