Juventus: Buffon will stay

Juventus insist that Gigi Buffon will remain at the club, but a decision on the future of boss Gigi Del Neri has yet to be made.

The Italian international goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from Turin in recent times, with Roma and Arsenal associated with his services.

However, speaking after last night's 2-0 win at Roma, in which an ill Buffon was replaced by Marco Storari, Giuseppe Marotta rubbished talk of a summer sale.

"We will be counting on Buffon for the present and the future," the club's director general commented.

"We will be counting on Buffon for the present and the future," the club's director general commented.

"We regularly talk with the player himself and his agent Silvano Martina. It is not our intention to sell him."

Turning to boss Del Neri, who arrived with Marotta from Sampdoria at the end of last season, the club official suggested that a decision had yet to be made.

"Del Neri has a contract and he's done his work as best he can up until now," Marotta stated.

"There have been a lot of difficulties and misfortune, but evaluations will need to be made with him further down the line.

"We have started a project together, but I don't think he is to blame for the League position we find ourselves in."

Juventus are seventh in Serie A, eight points behind fourth-placed Udinese and that last Champions League spot.
