The former Lazio and Inter star now works as Roberto Mancini’s right-hand man and believes ‘the season couldn’t have been more interesting’.

“Juventus are always the team to fear,” he told Serbian newspaper Sportske Novosti.

“I even said that when they had their ugly start to the season. They changed four or five players, but now they’ve strung together nine wins in a row and they’re there again.

“I don’t have fear but respect for Juventus. Fiorentina play a good game with Paulo Sousa, but lost against Lazio.

“Napoli have a new Coach in Maurizio Sarri, he’s doing great work, his game is beautiful and efficient at home and away and they’re in the lead. If they sign another two players in January they will be a serious contender for the title.

“The season couldn’t have been more interesting, with a group of five teams within a few points of each other.”
