Bebeto has warned Juventus they are running the risk of losing his son Mattheus to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Reports last week suggested that the move was almost complete and Flamengo were just waiting for a document to arrive from Turin.
However, the 1994 World Cup winner has told the Gazzetta dello Sport that Real could hijack the Bianconeri’s swoop.
“Juventus have shown great interest in him and I know a five-year contract has been agreed in principal,” the former striker noted.
“However, Juve need to pay €1m up front because his contract with Flamengo expires at the end of December.
“As soon as that arrives then Mattheus will leave for Turin.
“The problem is that Flamengo aren’t letting him play anymore given that they know he is leaving and he can’t afford to not play for the rest of the year.
“He has a lot of offers and if Juventus don’t define everything by May 10 then we would consider ourselves free to talk to Real Madrid who have made us a good offer.”
Bebeto went on to describe his 18-year-old as a “No 10 like Zico because he gets forward and scores lots of goals.”
