Jovetic: ‘I’m at Inter to stay’

Stevan Jovetic is at Inter “to stay for many years” and insisted his rapport with Mauro Icardi would always take time.

The Montenegro international is on loan with mandatory option to buy from Manchester City, but there have been consistent reports he’ll leave San Siro this summer.

“I never thought of leaving,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I read many things, but I am here to stay for many years. I like to stay in one club for a long time.

“I am not just passing through.”

“I never thought of leaving,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I read many things, but I am here to stay for many years. I like to stay in one club for a long time.

Jovetic started with Icardi in tonight’s 2-0 win over Napoli and was asked about the tactical adjustments since the start of the season.

“People have been criticising our partnership since the second round, but it was always going to take time. We proved ourselves many times, including today against one of the best sides in Europe.

“I think we can do even better, but we worked hard this evening. I had to man-mark Jorginho and he tired me out, but it was my job and that proved important for the victory. I had to follow him everywhere, maybe we’ll go to dinner together afterwards too!

“I always trained hard and expected to become a protagonist again, as I never stopped believing in myself. Now I am satisfied with my performances.”
