“The Italian Federation asked us and we accepted their invitation,” Fluminense Vice-President Ricardo Tenorio told O Globo.

“We will play to the best of our abilities, apart of course from the players who have been called away for World Cup duty.”

Italy’s opening World Cup match is on June 14 against England in Manaus, followed by Costa Rica in Recife on June 20 and Uruguay in Natal on June 24.
