Just two weeks after renewing his Spezia contract, Vincenzo Italiano is seemingly determined to join Fiorentina, who parted company with Gennaro Gattuso.
The last month has been chaotic for the two Serie A clubs with constant changes even after the situation seemed to be resolved.
Gattuso signed for Fiorentina only to walk away by mutual consent 23 days later due to a disagreement over transfer strategy.
Their next choice to replace him is Italiano, who only penned a new contract with Spezia two weeks ago.
There is a €1m release clause in Italiano’s contract, while Sky Sport Italia report the two clubs are trying to work out something between themselves rather than take it through lawyers.
However, La Nazione, Sportitalia and La Gazzetta dello Sport all maintain Fiorentina are determined to take Italiano and the coach is no longer answering calls from Spezia directors.
He had his debut Serie A season this term, having taken Spezia to their first ever top flight campaign and avoiding relegation.
