Italiano: ‘Nothing decided on my future’

Spezia coach Vincenzo Italiano has been linked with Sassuolo and Fiorentina, but insists ‘nothing has been decided’ on his future.

He took Spezia to their first ever promotion into Serie A and kept them in the top flight with a round to spare.

It earned him interest from far bigger clubs, including Sassuolo, Fiorentina and at times also Napoli.

“Nothing has been decided,” Italiano told Il Secolo XIX newspaper.

“I still have to meet the new club owners and discover their projects, which I can’t wait to do. I will ask Robert Platek to improve the current squad and have a little more ambition.

“I am convinced that the American owners are intending to go in that direction anyway. The Platek family give a real sense of enthusiasm.

“If I do stay at Spezia, then a revolution is inevitable because we’ll lose so many players who are currently on loan or towards the end of their contracts.”
