Italiano: ‘Fiorentina have matured, I’ve chosen Biraghi’s replacement’

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano reveals Luca Ranieri will replace Cristiano Biraghi against Sivasspor and believes La Viola ‘have matured.’

The Tuscans have travelled to Turkey for the second leg of the Conference League Round of 16 after last week’s 1-0 win in Florence.

“We could have scored more goals [in the first leg], we will try to create many chances tomorrow. I hope the lads have understood what they need in front of the goal,” Italiano said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Pietro Terracciano seems available, but I want to congratulate Salvatore Sirigu because he was ready when called upon. Regardless of who plays tomorrow, we need the right team spirit. It will be a different match from the first leg and we need a high-level performance.

“The team has matured, we have worked on defensive situations. Tomorrow we are without Aleksa Terzic and Biraghi, so Ranieri will have his chance. I trust this guy. He has always played a full-back and I am convinced he will play well without pressure.”
