Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano explains Dusan Vlahovic is ‘focused on the present’ and is ‘destined for big things’ if he remains humble.
Vlahovic scored a brace in Fiorentina’s 4-3 win over Milan on Saturday night, becoming the second most prolific striker in Europe’s top 5 leagues, only second to Robert Lewandowski.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a January move as he won’t sign a new contract with the Tuscans. His current deal expires in June 2023.
However, the celebration of one of his goals against Milan seemed to suggest that he doesn’t want to leave the club in January.
“I don’t know how this story will end, but Vlahovic is always focused on the pitch,” Italiano told Radio Anch’io lo Sport.
“With his celebration, he proved that he is only focused on the present. We are enjoying him now, hoping that he remains humble. He is destined for big things.”
La Viola now sit seventh in the Serie A table, just four points off a Champions League placement.
“We wanted to have a great start,” explained Italiano.
“We are enjoying this moment and if the commitment doesn’t change, we can dream big.
“Everything is running smoothly and the lads deserve the praise because they’ve been adapting to a new system, it wasn’t easy.”
