Benoit Cauet has criticised former club Inter for the way they handled the John Carew affair.

The Norwegian international, a free agent, was targeted this month as an alternative for Diego Milito who has been ruled out for the season.

However, Carew was quickly sent packing after he failed his medical with the Nerazzurri on Wednesday afternoon.

“Inter should have tried to net Carew in silence, without all of the media attention that it grabbed,” the Frenchman noted.

The San Siro giants are short of options in attack after letting Marko Livaja join Atalanta last month as part of the deal to sign midfielder Ezequiel Schelotto.

“Inter didn’t want to burn Livaja in this moment of pressure,” the 43-year-old added.

The Nerazzurri only have three fit first team forwards on their books – Antonio Cassano, Rodrigo Palacio and Tommaso Rocchi.
