Inter ultras furious after authorities ban anti-Lukaku whistles

30,000 whistles have been handed out in vain as Inter ultras announced that they’ve been banned from using them against Roma striker Romelu Lukaku.

The 30-year-old Belgian striker infamously held talks with Juventus whilst the Nerazzurri were trying to negotiate a new loan deal with Chelsea, a move that immediately caused a fracture between player and fans.

Juventus couldn’t afford Lukaku and he ultimately headed to Roma on loan, ready to face Inter as an opponent. After a great start under Jose Mourinho, netting eight in 10 games, he’s now set to start against Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Earlier today, reports detailed how Inter ultras of the Curva Nord handed out around 30,000 whistles to be used against Lukaku, giving him a cold ‘welcome’ back to San Siro.

The ultras released a statement on Instagram today, confirming that they’d been forbidden from using these whistles.

“Yet more abuse. Whistles banned!!! 10,000 in Florence was ok two years ago. The law is not the same for everyone.”

The Fiorentina match in question dates back to March 2022, when Viola fans whistled the return of Dusan Vlahovic with Juventus.
