The Serbian international has not played a single minute this season after surgery on a hernia, and has been linked with a move to MLS.
Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website is reporting that Vidic has agreed on a mutual termination of his contract, which will be officially confirmed in the next few days.
The prospective move means that Vidic would be free to move to another European club in the January transfer window.
However, previous reports suggested that his contract would be terminated to allow him to join DC United in MLS, also owned by Inter President Erick Thohir.
Major League Soccer resumes in March, with DC United facing LA Galaxy on March 6.
