Inter set Dumfries price after Chelsea offer

Inter have reportedly set the price-tag for Denzel Dumfries at €50m and will not budge from that figure, as Chelsea sat their €25m plus bonuses offer rejected.

The Nerazzurri only signed Dumfries a year ago from PSV Eindhoven for €13.7m, but a fine debut season in Serie A saw his price-tag at least triple.

He contributed five goals and five assists in 33 Serie A appearances and is a regular in the Netherlands squad with five goals in 35 senior caps.

According to various reports in Italy and England, the initial offer made by Chelsea was €25m plus bonuses, which was rejected out of hand.

Many suggest the minimum price to sell Dumfries is €40m, but La Gazzetta dello Sport argue coach Simone Inzaghi won’t consider a sale for under €50m, especially with so little time to find a replacement before the campaign starts on August 13.

As for the salary proposed to the player, Chelsea made a verbal offer of a five-year contract at €4m plus bonuses.
