Inter have begun to set their sights on Real Madrid defender and soon-to-be free agent Nacho Fernendez as they seek to replace the departing Milan Skriniar, who will join Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season.
The 33-year-old, who has spent the entirety of his career on the books of Los Blancos, is out of contract in the summer and is reportedly set to leave the Spanish capital after a spell spanning more than two decades, having joined the club’s youth academy in 2001.
Nacho has good pedigree as well, having registered 318 appearances across all competitions in his senior career, as well as having three LaLiga titles, five Champions League winners’ medals and two Copa del Rey trophies to his name.
The Spain international is capable of playing both at full-back in a back four as well as in his more familiar home at centre-half and has previously been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma. There has also been interest reported from Villarreal over the last few days.
Spanish outlet Marca have reported that Inter have been in contact with Nacho’s entourage to offer a three year contract offer, which would run until the summer of 2026.
Marca also detail, however, that there is still a possibility that Nacho extends his contract with Madrid and that along with the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema, will have his future evaluated over the course of the next week.
Inter also have a busy period ahead, with any major business set to be completed after the Champions League final against Manchester City on June 10.
