And Gazzetta dello Sport claim the San Siro club’s preferred option would be to sign Herrera from the Portuguese champions.

The Mexico international, who represented his country at this summer’s World Cup, has only one year left on his contract at the Estadio do Dragao.

He appears highly unlikely to sign a new deal, leaving Porto at risk of losing him for free next summer should they opt against selling him now.

However, Gazzetta reports that this will not stop them demanding a fee of €40m for Herrera’s signature.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport believes Chilean Vidal would be Inter’s prime target.

He too has only one year left on his contract with the German champions and would be available for around €30m.

It is thought, though, that the Nerazzurri would be reluctant to spend any more than €22m for Vidal.

Instead, they may make an offer to take the 31-year-old on an initial loan deal, with the option to sign him permanently next summer.
