Inter have a clear strategy regarding De Vrij’s contract renewal

Inter are in no rush to renew Stefan de Vrij’s contract and they’re willing to listen to offers for him.

The 29-year-old Dutch centre back has been a consistent and professional part of coach Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season, being one of the top performers in the squad as the team look to defend their Scudetto.

As reported by Calciomercato.com earlier today, negotiations between Inter and De Vrij regarding a new contract are currently on standby, with the club not considering it a priority to tie him down to a new deal until next summer.

One of the reason for this is because Inter could make an important capital gain from the Dutch defender; he arrived on a free transfer from Lazio in 2018 and so any proceeds from his sale would make a real Capitan gain in the balance sheets, important as they club works to keep their accounts under control.

The Nerazzurri are willing to listen to offers for De Vrij, although they will not consider anything below €20m. Should he be sold, the club would look to immediately reinvest into the squad, possibly signing Bremer from Torino. Should no convincing offer arrive, the Milanese club would instead begin working on tying him down to a new contract.
