Inter have opened talks for defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, who is now a free agent after his contract expired with Borussia Dortmund.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Inter met with Zagadou’s agent this afternoon at the club’s headquarters to explore a possible deal. The player could be the perfect reinforcement to replace Andrea Ranocchia, who left after his contract expired last week.

The 23-year-old Zagadou is a left-footed and physically imposing defender, whose comfortable making tackles and competing for aerial balls. He’s also known for his accurate and progressive passes, making him a key contributor to the build-up play.

During his five years in Dortmund, Zagadou made 91 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
