Inter cool on Sneijder offer

It’s reported Wesley Sneijder called up Roberto Mancini and offered himself to Inter, but the Galatasaray man poses a problem.

According to Calciomercato.com and Sky Sport Italia, Sneijder rang his old Galatasaray Coach Mancini to see if Inter would be interested in bringing him back to San Siro.

He was in the Treble-winning side under Jose Mourinho and left for €7.5m in January 2013 following a row with the then-directors.

He was in the Treble-winning side under Jose Mourinho and left for €7.5m in January 2013 following a row with the then-directors.

It’s suggested the 32-year-old is tired of life with Galatasaray and eager for a new challenge, or rather an old one at the club he remains very fond of.

The report maintains Sneijder offered to lower his wages substantially, but there are some major problems.

The first is that even at a lower rate, the salary would be an issue for a club under Financial Fair Play restrictions.

There are tactical issues too, as Ever Banega is the playmaker for Inter in a 4-2-3-1 system, while Sneijder would struggle to find a spot in a 4-3-3 shape too.

Sneijder has a far more lucrative offer on the table from Everton and Inter do not seem particularly interested in bringing him back.
