Inter challenge Napoli for Verdi

Inter are reportedly competing with Napoli to sign Bologna’s Simone Verdi this summer.

Both clubs are keen on Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, but the Partenopei had a €40m bid turned down last summer.

With Financial Fair Play in mind, the Nerazzurri can’t go for Chiesa until they know if they’ll be in the Champions League, so calciomercato.com reports there’s a transfer duel for Verdi.

Napoli tried hard to sign the Italian international in January, but he ultimately decided that he wanted to stay with the Rossoblu until the end of the season.

Inter could offer players in exchange to lower the cost of the deal, with Napoli’s accepted offer in January reaching €25m with bonuses included.
