The Real Madrid and Portugal striker revealed that the two Serie A clubs tried to sign him in 2003 whilst he was still at Sporting Lisbon, and also discussed Juventus' current strength in attack alongside the longevity of Francesco Totti.
"Both Inter and Juventus wanted to give me an opportunity to play for them," he told Gazzetta dello Sport "but my dream was to play in Manchester and that’s where I went."
The 31-year-old then went on to praise the Italian league, giving his opinion that the standard had been greatly elevated in recent years.
"You have a demanding league, which is coming back to the top level after suffering a tarnished reputation. The teams have got very good players and standard has got much higher in recent times.
“This is also good for Europe as well because there are now more competitive squads in the Champions League."
