Lorenzo Insigne said Napoli “wanted to win at all costs” against Liverpool and have faith they can shake up the Champions League group.
The forward scored in stoppages at the Stadio San Paolo for a heart-stopping 1-0 win.
“It’s wonderful to win like this, but we had a great performance as a team and wanted the result at all costs,” Insigne told Sky Sport Italia.
“Now we’ll enjoy this victory for a little bit, because from tomorrow we have to focus on Sassuolo, which will be another really tough one.”
Elsewhere in the group, Paris Saint-Germain destroyed Red Star Belgrade 5-1.
“We know it’s a difficult group, we always did, but we want to make our mark in every game and put any opponent under pressure.”
Insigne had also scored home and away against Alisson Becker when he was at Roma last season.
“Alisson is a great goalkeeper, but I’m happy if I keep scoring against him!
“I am just focused on doing well, not if I score, as the important thing is for Napoli to win and to make these wonderful fans happy.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical adjustments surprised everyone, moving to a 4-4-1-1 with a three-man defence when defending.
“The Coach changed a lot, we are trying to put his ideas into action.”
