Lorenzo Insigne believes the 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over Udinese “showed everyone in the squad can be relied upon.”
It was only when he and Dries Mertens came off the bench that they found the winning goal at the Stadio San Paolo, as the Belgian provided the assist.
“We knew it would be difficult, as Udinese were coming off some great games, including their victory over Inter. We had to face it in the best possible way,” Insigne told Rai Sport.

“I think the Coach gave a good response and showed that everyone in the squad can be relied upon.
“We take on every competition aiming to go all the way. We surpassed this difficult obstacle, there’s an important game coming up against Sampdoria on Sunday and we must try to get three points any way we can.”
The Partenopei had started with an experimental line-up, including Jose Callejon as a centre-forward, Nikola Maksimovic, Adam Ounas and Emanuele Giaccherini.
“Callejon and Mertens are such great players, they’ll score goals sooner or later. They just need to relax and help the team to get results, as that is what really matters. Only after the team objectives do we consider individual ones.”
Napoli will face either Atalanta or Sassuolo in the Quarter-Final on January 2.
