Ilicic on life after Palermo

Josip Ilicic has admitted that he’d like to play for another Italian club if he one day eventually leaves Palermo.

Ilicic has told Sky Sport Italia that he’s happy to continue his adventure at the Stadio Barbera, but he would be tempted by a switch to one of the peninsula’s big sides.

“I try not to listen to the transfer rumours involving me,” the midfielder noted. “I’m just focused on doing my job.

“If the fans want me to stay in Palermo then I will be happy to remain at this club. It’s important for me to feel the affection of the supporters.

“If I was to leave? I would like to stay in Italy…”

The Slovenian, contracted to the Rosanero until June 2015, has been paired with both Inter and Juventus” data-scaytid=”12″>Juventus over the last 12 months.

Ilicic’s words come just days after his agent ruled out a January switch for his client.

“I’ve spoken to Palermo recently and nobody has told me anything about a move,” Amir Ruznic stated. “I really don't believe Ilicic will leave in January.

“It would be hard for Palermo to replace him in the middle of the season, but it, perhaps, will be a different story in June…

“Ilicic is a player of great value and has great technique and quality,” Ruznic continued. “I could see him doing well in a big club.

“Maybe there has been contact between sides, but at the moment none of these clubs have spoken to me.”
