Icardi: ‘Working on new contract’

Inter captain Mauro Icardi assures “we’ll try to find an agreement” for a new contract – “this is my home”.

The striker has a release clause worth €110m which is valid for foreign clubs in the first two weeks of July, and the club is keen to raise or remove that, while handing their talisman an improved deal.

“I’m happy,” Icardi assured in an interview with Sky.

“There were contacts [with other clubs] but I decided to stay here for the good of my family. This is my home, I couldn’t leave.

“I dreamed of playing in the Champions League and I’ve realised that.

“I don’t know if it [the renewal] will arrive before Christmas, but we’ll try to find an agreement.”
