Roma striker Nicolò Zaniolo will complete his transfer to Galatasaray today, reuniting with several former Serie A stars, from Mauro Icardi to Dries Mertens and his ex-teammate Sergio Oliveira.
The deal is worth around €22m and Zaniolo will have a €35m clause included in his contract with the Turkish giants.
He will reunite with several ex-Serie A stars, including strikers Mauro Icardi, Dries Mertens, Haris Seferovic.
Icardi, a former Inter captain, joined Galatasaray on loan from PSG last summer and has scored nine goals in 13 appearances this season. Mertens became the best scorer in Napoli’s history during his nine-year spell with the Partenopei and has six goals in 22 games this term.
Other former Serie A players currently at Galatasaray are Fernando Muslera, Kaan Ayhan, Lucas Torreira, and Sergio Oliveira.
Ayhan joined from Sassuolo on loan in the January window. Torreira moved on a permanent transfer from Arsenal after spending the last season on loan at Fiorentina. The Uruguay international also played for Sampdoria in Italy’s top flight.
Portugal international Oliveira spent the second part of 2021-22 at Roma winning the Conference League at the Stadio Olimpico, inspired by a goal of Zaniolo in the Final against Feyenoord.
