The striker caused controversy with a passage in his new book, in which he claimed he could get hooligans from Argentina to fight the hardcore Nerazzurri fans and “kill them where they stand”.

Icardi has since apologised and the club has confirmed that he’ll remain captain, but the Curva Nord are unimpressed.

“The truth is that the fans are very attached to Mauro and have a great love for him,” Wanda Icardi, who is also Mauro's agent, told Fox Sports.

“The problem has been resolved, there was a misunderstanding in translation and nothing happened last night, no-one attacked us and we had no problems getting home.

“The armband? It’s Mauro’s, that’s indisputable! The subject isn’t up for discussion.”
