Inter captain Mauro Icardi marks his 25th birthday and denies he is suffering from a knee injury. “It’s not the time to be celebrating.”
The striker has missed the last three games with a thigh problem and the Nerazzurri have slipped down the standings, losing 2-0 to Genoa on Saturday.
“I thank everyone for wishing me a happy birthday, even if it’s a bit of a sour one this year,” Icardi told Inter TV.

“I thank everyone for wishing me a happy birthday, even if it’s a bit of a sour one this year,” Icardi told Inter TV.
“I am ok, I’m recovering from that adductor problem that has kept me out for the last few matches. I hope to be back as soon as possible and help the team get a result, which we’ve really been missing the last two months.”
There were reports today that Icardi was also suffering from the inflammation of a knee tendon.
“It’s not true, I just had a knock to the knee against Bologna earlier this season and it was repeated against Torino, but that’s it. I don’t know why they said that.
“The important thing now is that we get back to winning ways against Benevento, as that’s what we and all the fans want. We must get accustomed to the idea of winning, the way we were at the start.
“I’m going to spend my birthday at home with my family. It’s not the time to be celebrating.”
