Ibrahimovic’s future at Milan shrouded in doubt

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future at Milan is in doubt due to concerns about his fitness following his latest injury.

The 40-year-old Swedish forward is currently working hard in the gym to recover from an Achilles tendon issue suffered in the 0-0 draw with Juventus last weekend. He expects to be fit in time for next weekend’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter, but this latest injury has again led to questions about his future with the Rossoneri.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic’s contract expires with Milan at the end of this season and the decision to renew will not come from a sit-down meeting, but instead it’ll be something that is decided itself.

If Ibrahimovic’s motivation and physical condition hold up, Milan will automatically look to renew his contract, believing him to be a vital part of the dressing room. But, if the 40-year-old Swede feels the fatigue and disillusionment with the game, the two parties will go their separate ways in the summer.

Nothing has been decided yet, but questions are starting to be asked as the second half of the season gets into fully swing.
