Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini confirmed German Pezzella is out and said the pressure on him is ‘part of the game’ ahead of the match against Parma.
The Viola travel to the Ennio Tardini without the veteran winger, who tested positive for coronavirus, and Iachini said the former Napoli attacker was close ‘to reach his best levels’.
“I’m sorry for Jose, we had been working well for a few weeks and his condition was improving,” Iachini said at a press conference.
“This news of positivity is a blow; he was close to reaching his best levels.”
Iachini’s men have picked up seven points in six games so far and the reports in Italy suggest his position at the Artemio Franchi is uncertain.
“The rumours are part of the game; we must do our job. With or without Iachini, it’s the commitment that really matters.
“I continue to work with my lads day after day.”
The coach confirmed captain German Pezzella will not be ready to play against Parma.
“He won’t be there tomorrow, his foot hurts. Let’s hope we don’t have to pay again for his absence.
“Parma have excellent individuals, we must play a very good game.”
