Enzo Maresca is ready to take over at Chelsea, something that will come as good news for Italian talent Cesare Casadei.
The Italian coach emerged as a leading candidate for the Blues following their decision to replace Mauricio Pochettino and has now reportedly agreed a five-year contract with the club, giving him the chance to build an interesting project in West London.
Maresca had impressed during his single season with Leicester City, guiding them back up to the Premier League, and during his time at the club he worked closely with Casadei, who was on loan from Chelsea.
Casadei growth
During their time together at Leicester City, Casadei showed a number of positives across his 25 appearances under Maresca, scoring three goals and providing two assists. After a positive six months at the club, he was recalled to Chelsea.
With the Italian coach now taking over at the Blues, the 21-year-old will likely have the opportunity to continue his growth in West London, able to show off his talents in the Premier League.
Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti already highlighted Casadei as an exciting, emerging talent during an interview back in January and a strong season with Chelsea could be enough to see him break into the senior national team, where he’s still waiting for his first cap.
