The Gialloblu lost the first leg of the promotion decider 2-0 away, but won their home tie by 3-0, with the minnows reduced to nine men.
They are only the second ever side to win the Final after a two-goal deficit from the first leg, as Torino came back from a 4-2 defeat in 2005-06.

Under the play-off rules, even a 2-2 aggregate result would’ve allowed Hellas to win the tie, because they finished the regular season in fifth place compared to Cittadella’s seventh.
Verona’s promotion will be even sweeter, as city rivals Chievo were relegated this season, so we’ll have to wait for a Derby della Scala.
